The Montreal River at the rapids
South and east of the Estivant Pines is a road which ends at a swamp a little north of this spot. We used to walk east from the Estivant Pines along a ridge, through the Star Mine location, then south to the river to picnic. From the Estivant Pines, this was about a two and a half mile walk. I think it is also possible to drive past the Clark Mine and down this road to where it is blocked off, from which it is only half a mile or so to the river. It was one of our favorite picnic spots.
